Images of Britain in Watercolour by Martin Goode

Welcome to Images of Britain in Watercolour by Martin Goode 1932-2002.

Martin Goode was born in London and showed interest in sketching and cartooning from his early schooldays. As a teenager, he lived in Tillicoultry in Scotland for 5 years, which inspired his passion for the rugged British countryside. His non-stop drawing and cartooning soon turned to painting which he continued to study in his home county of Essex, England.

Martin’s career started as a photographer, then a commercial artist and graphic designer, and in 1983 he founded a printing company, Speedprint, which still flourishes today. The combination of art, photography and printing paved the way to form Images of Britain in Watercolour by Martin Goode in 1987 publishing fine art prints depicting scenes of British and Irish cities, towns, villages and landmarks.

Images of Britain in Watercolour by Martin Goode boasts the largest catalogue of local views and Irish watercolour prints available in the UK with over 1800 published titles, and Martin Goode’s original paintings adorn homes and offices all over the world.

Martin’s attention to detail and carefully constructed compositions have made him one of the industry’s most prolific and sought after British watercolor artists. He has written articles for artists’ magazines, has produced his own library of instruction videos, has held one man exhibitions and has demonstrated his watercolour techniques at many art exhibitions and seminars. Commissions for original paintings have been received from palaces, town councils, commercial organisations, art galleries and individual collectors.

Martin Goode who passed away in 2002, was greatly respected throughout the art world and many trade magazines ran features on him posthumously. As the founder of Images of Britain in Watercolour by Martin Goode in 1987, Martin’s unique talent as a fine watercolorist and excellent business mind has ensured the continuing success of the company. The company continues operating with Martin’s son and business partner, Vincent Goode at the helm.
